Interesting Facts about Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar and Restaurant

One of the things that I really love about working in this space is the stories. When you introduce yourself as media, the manager comes out and talks to you.

I like to ask this question, “Is there anything we should know?” Sometimes they will just tell us to try a certain dish or drink, but sometimes, like in the case of Lucy’s Manager, Wesley, you get awesome stories and facts like:

1. This was the most expensive Lucy’s to build! When they moved into OWA, it was just a white box, but they spent buckets of money making it into the Lucy’s you see there today.

Personally, I think it paid off! You may only be overlooking a lagoon, but the beach vibe is strong here!

2. This Lucy’s has bridges on each side of it that go nowhere. Why? Plans for expansion! OWA has only been open for three years, and 2 of the 3 were 2020 and 2021!

So, they got off to a rough start, but they are thriving now and growing constantly. We’ve been to OWA a couple of times over the past few months, and there is something new to see each time!

3. Lucy’s Retired Surfers Bar and Restaurant makes all of their food in-house, with fresh ingredients (except the fries).

Their tortilla chips are made with a secret garlic and pepper spice combo that makes them some of the best you’ve ever had! Served with fresh salsa, you will wish the chips & salsa came with free refills!

WaitStaff:

Our waitress, Nikki, was amazing! She had a smile on her face the entire time and made great recommendations when we asked. (The burger is AMAZING!) The fun part was that she didn’t know we were media, so we were treated just like everyone else… meaning, I can say with confidence that their waitstaff is awesome and not just because they want a good review. 🙂

If you sit at the bar, maybe you will get to meet Kelly. We met her a few weeks back when we stopped in for a couple of drinks after the Brandon Styles Variety Show. She is fun and exciting and hilarious! Go visit her and get a Bushwacker. You won’t be disappointed!
