If Home Town is bringing you to Laurel, plan to eat at Cafe La Fleur. My friend Ashley went last year on a girls trip, and she told me I absolutely needed to go. So when we drove up to shop Laurel Mercantile and the Scotsman, we made it part of the same day. She was right.

My Chicken Salad: Fresh, Crisp and So Good

I got the chicken salad, and it was amazing. The veggies were fresh and crispy. The chicken was moist and full of flavor.

The menu lists it with romaine, mixed cheeses, bacon, green onion, egg and cucumber. You can get the chicken grilled, fried or tossed in buffalo sauce.

Ashley’s Shroomer Burger (and I Don’t Even Like Mushrooms)

Ashley ordered the Shroomer. It’s an Angus blend burger with sauteed mushrooms, provolone and mayo.

When it came to the table, I actually said, “Oh my word! That looks and smells incredible, and I don’t even like mushrooms!” So if you do like mushrooms, you already know what to order.

Moody, Old World and Sweet as Can Be

Inside, Cafe La Fleur is moody, with an old world feel.

The staff was incredibly sweet, just like you’d expect in a small Southern town.

A Few Things to Know

The portions are big. Our meals were so filling that we didn’t have room for dessert. If dessert is your thing, plan for it.

There’s one bathroom. It’s a single person bathroom, and it’s adorably decorated. On a really busy day, though, you might be waiting your turn.

Watch for road work. There was road work going on when we visited, so we had to deal with that. All in all, it was still wonderful.
